Environmental Management Promotion System
The Environmental Committee, which is chaired by the Chief Top Management and attended by top management at each site and members of the Procurement Department and the Corporate Planning Division, meets twice a year, serving as our decision-making body on environmental matters. The committee also functions as a company-wide energy conservation organization, meeting the stipulations of Japan’s Act on Rationalization of Energy Use and Shift to Non-fossil Energy (Energy Conservation Act).
In addition, the Environmental Management Promotion Subcommittee meets twice a year with the participation of personnel at each site to share environmental information among the sites. In addition to ISO14001-certified business sites (Tokushima, Saitama, Okayama, and Kitajima sites), we have established a company-wide environmental management promotion system to promote compliance with environment-related laws and regulations and to reduce environmental impact and environmental risks at all business sites, including offices and laboratories.

Operation of ISO 14001
The Tokushima, Saitama, Okayama, and Kitajima sites are certified under the Environmental Management System (ISO14001), which requires strict management of environmental impact reduction and environmental risk management. In August 2020, we shifted to integrated certification for the Otsuka Group to strengthen governance at the Otsuka Group.

Environmental Audits
Taiho Pharmaceutical conducts ISO 14001-based in-house audits and third-party audits once a year for sites that have obtained ISO 14001 certification. Important matters confirmed by these audits are horizontally distributed to each site, and preventive and corrective actions are taken as necessary. We also conduct annual internal audits of sites that have not obtained ISO 14001 certification, based on our own environmental management system regulations, to confirm the operation of environmental management, focusing on compliance with the environmental laws and regulations.
Environmental Compliance
Based on the company-wide environmental management system and ISO 14001 standards, we stay abreast of the compliance obligations under environmental laws and regulations and pollution control agreements, and we confirm that there are no issues with the legal compliance system by carrying out internal environmental auditing, ensuring that the relevant departments do not have any deficiencies in legal compliance. In addition to internal environmental audits, we regularly evaluate compliance with laws and regulations.
In fiscal 2024, Taiho Pharmaceutical did not suffer any environmental accidents or serious violations of environmental laws or regulations. There have also been no significant environment-related fines or penalties in the past five years.
Emergency Training
To minimize environmental pollution caused by accidents and disasters, Taiho Pharmaceutical has established response procedures at each site and regularly conducts emergency drills to ensure that employees can respond to unexpected situations. For example, we have implemented concrete improvements by conducting emergency response drills that assume leakage of chemical substances, and we have made those drills more effective.
Environmental Education
Taiho Pharmaceutical provides a variety of environmental education programs, including environmental education for new employees, education based on ISO 14001, and e-learning for all employees, to raise environmental awareness among employees. We also provide training for directors, executive officers, and other members of management to equip them to address environmental issues as management issues.
