We practice sustainable use of water resources by using water carefully and returning it clean.
Water intake and discharged
Taiho Pharmaceutical uses water for various purposes, including raw materials for drinks such as TIOVITA Drink, cooling water, and washing water. We believe that water is a limited and important resource and are actively working to improve the efficiency of its use. We also conduct water risk assessments at each site from the perspective of business continuity.
Care for the Aquatic Environment
In the manufacturing process of drug products, high-potency wastewater is generated. The Tokushima Plant and the Kitajima Plant degrade and treat high-potency wastewater with ozone to address concerns about environmental impacts caused by materials that have no criterion regulated in law. Ozone generated by the ozone generator reacts with high-potency wastewater to inactivate it, which is further treated at general wastewater treatment facilities. We are also constantly monitoring whether the ozone treatment is satisfactory.
